Frequently asked questions

will pole fitness be too hard for me?

No, but it will be challenging! (trust me, everyone in your class will have the same concerns as you do.) don't be afraid, whether you are someone that has never worked out or a die-hard athlete, everyone has to learn to train their muscles specifically for pole dancing.

No matter your age, weight, or fitness level, our intro to pole dancing classes and sensual movement classes are designed to teach you proper techniques in a challenging environment. You will work hard, but you will have fun! You will feel muscles that you never felt before!

what should i wear?

Your skin making contact with the pole is what helps give you the grip to perform many of the spins and tricks.

For beginner classes: form-fitting clothes that expose the skin on your arms to your shoulders and your legs from knees down (shorts and a tank top and sports bra).

More advanced classes: (requires more skin to be exposed to perform advanced tricks) Shorts, tank tops, and sports bras are appropriate.

All Levels: No oils, lotions, or moisturizers. Slippery hands and legs can impede pole gripping and make for a dangerous situation. Just as important, remove all jewelry from your fingers and wrists. Not only can it damage the pole’s surface, but it can also cause bodily injury by scratching the skin or catching on clothing.

how old i do i have to be to take classes?

if Encore Fitness doesn’t do levels how do i know which classes i should take?

The trainers at Encore Fitness will be here to guide you along the way. We do require you to take at least 6 hours of our intro to pole class before moving onto the next class*.

once you have met this MINIMUM REQUIREMENT, you are able to register for all classes that do not indicate intermediate or advanced (INT/ADV).

in order to register for Int/Adv classes, you will be required to perform a specific combination demonstrating the minimum skills required to safely participate. The biggest reason for this is safety!

*If you have previously done pole or are visting from another studio and want to start with anything above intro to pole, please email baileycupples@encorefitnessdsm.com and we will chat about what classes best suit you! safety first!!!!
